NHS Norfolk and Waveney recruiting a Chair

31st January 2025

Our mission is to help the people of Norfolk and Waveney live longer, healthier and happier lives.

We have the biggest opportunity in a generation for the most radical overhaul in the way health services in Norfolk and Waveney are designed and delivered. In the coming years we will building two new hospitals, making significant investments in the latest equipment and technology, expanding the care that people receive in their community and doing more to prevent ill health and to keep people well.  These are significant opportunities to make a difference to the health and therefore the life chances of those who live in Norfolk and Waveney.

Working together with a wide range of organisations, we have made a real difference over the last two and a half years since the ICB was established. But we are ambitious and there is so much more we want and need to do.

The ICB is a statutory NHS organisation, responsible for developing a plan for meeting the health needs of our people. We are accountable for the overall performance and finances of the NHS in Norfolk and Waveney, with a budget of around £2.5 billion for commissioning services and driving health and care improvements for the communities we serve.

Our health and care partners include three acute hospital trusts, two community trusts, a mental health trust, 105 GP practices, 19 primary care networks, 180 community pharmacies, two county councils, eight district councils and over 12,000 charitable organisations.

The Chair will lead our unitary board which brings together leaders from across all parts of the Norfolk and Waveney system.

This is a significant, high-profile role at the cutting edge of public sector reform. You will bring strong strategic leadership skills needed to compassionately and inclusively lead a significant Board and demonstrated by a career record of achievement at the highest levels, including stewardship of significant funds and resources.

You will either live in or have connections with our local communities and will bring a significant track record of leading Boards, strategic stakeholder relationship building expertise and oversight of public money.  You will also champion diversity, inclusion, and equality for all.  With political acumen and excellent communication skills, you should be able to build strong partnerships across complex boundaries that drive practical, community-led change.

We prioritise Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, team health and wellbeing and the principles of kind leadership in making Norfolk and Waveney a great place to work.
