Primary care

Primary care services provide the first point of contact in the healthcare system, acting as the ‘front door’ of the NHS.

Primary care includes general practice, community pharmacy, dental, and optometry (eye health) services.

There are 105 GP practices in Norfolk and Waveney.

Many of our GP practices are now using a platform called ‘Footfall’ which has been designed to support patients navigate through the website to find what they need, much as they might do if they walked into the surgery. Below is a short video that helps explain how it works.

Community health services

Community health services deliver accessible NHS healthcare services to adults and children in convenient places close to their homes and, where necessary, in their homes.

Some of the services on offer include health visiting, physiotherapy, district nursing and school nursing and immunisation, speech and language therapy and smoking cessation.

Through assessing, treating, educating and caring for local people, they aim to improve health, enable well-being and enhance the quality of their lives.
