James Paget Hospital, in Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, has collaborated with the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board and East Coast College to develop a project with community organisation The Bread Kitchen, aimed at regenerating a garden space on the hospital’s site.
The Bread Kitchen work with people in Great Yarmouth and Waveney who may need additional support, or face challenges in accessing volunteering and employment opportunities, and the project provides volunteering opportunities that could lead to further work experience or job roles locally.
The joint project has utilised collective areas of expertise to access resources and support across the health, education and employment sectors. It pilots new ways of procuring services, builds capacity in the VCSE sector, and supports access to employment in line with Anchor Institution principles, and external grants are being accessed to support the potential to scale the model across the ICS.
