N&W ICS Schwartz Rounds

“Great to have colleagues across N&W ICS coming together in this forum, supporting each other as an ICS in a way we don’t always get to see or feel”

Previous audience participant

Our multidisciplinary Schwartz Rounds forum brings together staff to discuss the non-clinical, social and emotional aspects of caring for patients, residents and service users across Norfolk and Waveney. These Rounds run alongside established partner organisation sessions to further enhance the offering to all colleagues working across the system.

The Schwartz ideology is established on the acknowledgement that high quality compassionate care depends on staff being well supported, providing a model of mutual storytelling.

The purpose of Rounds is to understand the challenges and rewards that are intrinsic to providing care, not to solve problems or to focus on the clinical aspects of patient care.

Personal benefits include:

  • Increased empathy and compassion with patients and colleagues
  • Increased confidence in managing non-clinical aspects of care
  • Improved communications
  • Enhanced well-being
  • Improved teamwork and role modelling
  • Feelings of increased support and less isolation
  • Improved culture

These sessions are for all health, social and VCSE colleagues working within Norfolk and Waveney ICS.

96% of participants who joined May’s session (“Under pressure”…Meeting and negotiating expectations) said they would recommend Schwartz to colleagues, and plan to attend a future round.

If you and/or your colleague/s would like to support our forum and benefit from these conversations, please contact Sophie Oglesby, Norfolk & Waveney ICB Workforce Project Support Officer sophie.oglesby1@nhs.net.
