Neonatal Project: Kaiser Sepsis Calculator (KSC)

Work is underway with Perinatal peers from the three acute hosptials maternity and neonatal services, embedding the KSC tool within trusts.

The KSC is a validated safety tool which is used to identify the risk of early onset sepsis in an infanct born 34+ weeks gestation and helping to determine whether antibiotics should be administered.

The benefits and outcomes of this project include.

  • Reduction in unnecessary antibiotic use.
  • Ensuring the right care is provided at the right time.
  • Improving outcomes for our service users.
