Local health and social care organisations in Norfolk and Waveney will be touring the region this January and February, visiting a number of towns and communities to bring health and social care careers advice to local job seekers.

Members of the public will have an opportunity to meet staff from health and care organisations across Norfolk and Waveney’s Integrated Care System (ICS to talk about a variety of clinical roles, including health care support workers, nursing and a range of other professional opportunities on their own doorstep.

At each stop, the team will be joined by staff from a range of different local employers who will talk about the opportunities that exist for those looking to pursue a career in either health or adult social care.

The team will be on hand to answer queries from people who don’t currently work in the care sector, people looking to return to work after a break or looking for a career change, with roles open to those without previous care experience or qualifications.

Guidance on interview preparation will also be given to equip individuals with the right information and techniques on how they can start a career in health and care or how they can progress within their current job role.

Healthcare support workers undertake hundreds of vital roles, helping to support patients through their treatment and assisting nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals in a wide range of healthcare settings.

Sharon Crowle, Head of Professional Education, Training and Development at NHS Norfolk and Waveney said: “The purpose of the bus is to bring together health and social care professionals with expertise and resources to help inform people about job opportunities near to where they live. With over 350+ careers within health and social care, we are certain to have a career for you.

“We aim to make Norfolk and Waveney the best place to work in health and care. By having the best staff, and supporting them to work well together, will improve the working lives of our staff, and ensure patient receive high quality, personalised and compassionate care.

“Our health and care services need a skilled workforce in the future and these campaigns effectively provide opportunities to people who are considering a career in this area.”

Cllr Bill Borrett, Chair of Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) and Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care at Norfolk County Council, said: “Those working in health and social care make a tremendous difference to the lives of people living in Norfolk and Waveney every day, giving people quality of life and independence. Norfolk County Council is working with social care providers to promote the huge range of jobs available in the county. This includes jobs such as providing care in people’s homes, residential care and reablement (supporting people with a social care need to get back on their feet after injury or illness).”
