On 15 June the WOW Bus (Wellness on Wheels) is out and about and making a stop in Cromer for a dedicated parent and carer event.
This free event is a ‘drop-in’ opportunity for all parents and carers who want to know more about the early years of parenting which will support children to flourish.
This is the first event of its kind on our WOW bus in Norfolk and Waveney and will focus on the following topics:
- Pelvic health
- Feeding your baby
- Stop smoking
- Meeting Maternity Voices Partnership
- Meet the Midwife
- Contraception
- Finding your local health services
- Keeping your baby happy and healthy
Tracy Williams, Clinical Lead for Health Inequalities for NHS Norfolk & Waveney said:
“We are delighted the WOW bus will continue with its journey across Norfolk and Waveney, delivering a range of health interventions to some of our most underserved communities including inclusion health groups, who tell us they often find health care services in our traditional settings are challenging to access.
“We are pleased to now take this one step further and offer dedicated services to parents and carers on antenatal care for their child or children and further support to help children and young people flourish. This is our first antenatal focused stop which we are really excited about, we plan to do a lot more similar events and to support as many people as possible.
“I encourage you to come and visit us on the WOW bus to get the help and advice you might need. Our health and care colleagues will be on hand to answer your questions and offer you help and advice. They are hoping to meet with as many people as possible.
“This is a free drop-in event, so if you are around, do come and hop on board!”
The bus began its journey back in October 2021, supporting the COVID-19 vaccination of our homeless community across Norfolk and Waveney. It was hugely successful and well received across local communities. The roving bus has now evolved into WOW bus, with a particular focus on wellness.
The WOW Bus has been developed in partnership with Norfolk Integrated Care System and Voluntary Norfolk, with a specific focus on reaching out into those communities who do not access health and care in more traditional ways.
The WOW bus is supported by partner organisations across the ICS, including NHS Norfolk and Waveney, Norfolk County Council, the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector and others.
If you see the WOW bus, make sure you hop onboard!
