A new programme has been launched to support individuals in the local area find out how they can get involved in volunteering as a stepping stone to a health and care career.
The Volunteer to Career (VtC) programme is led by NHS Norfolk and Waveney and currently hosted by GP surgeries in Ludham and Stalham Green, Thetford and Watton, as well as the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) and Centre 81 in Great Yarmouth.
Volunteering offers a fantastic way to support health, social care and voluntary sector teams who are under increasing pressure to deliver the best possible care to patients and service users. New recruits will be guided throughout the programme by their volunteer co-ordinator and programme lead and is ideal for those interested in developing their skills to support them into a career in healthcare.
The programme is now live and offers three to six month opportunities, asking participants for a commitment to at least a morning or an afternoon of their time to the each week.
Willing volunteers will receive 1-2-1 mentoring throughout the programme with a range of opportunities to meet health professionals including, nurses, healthcare assistants and physiotherapists.
No experience is necessary as all training will be provided to ensure that volunteers can start their volunteering journey with confidence. Volunteers will also receive a uniform, travel expenses reimbursement and be issued with a certificate upon successful completion of the scheme.
