NHS App use surges across Norfolk and Waveney as more people go digital

2nd February 2026

Use of the NHS App across Norfolk and Waveney continues to rise sharply, with new figures showing more people are logging in, ordering prescriptions and managing their healthcare digitally.

Between April and December 2025, NHS App log-ins increased by over 12%, rising from 1,010,010 log-ins in April to 1,135,660 log-ins in December. This growth highlights a steady shift towards using digital tools to access NHS services quickly and securely.

Demand for repeat prescriptions through the NHS App has grown even faster. In April 2025, people placed 119,688 prescription orders through the app. By December 2025, this had risen to 142,226 orders – an increase of almost 19% in just eight months.

The NHS App is a great free resource that gives people secure and easy access to a wide range of NHS services, including being able to order repeat prescriptions, view their GP health record, access consultation notes, test results and future appointments information. And by switching on notifications within the NHS app users will receive direct notifications from their GP practice – guidance on managing the notifications can be found here

Dr Frankie Swords, Executive Medical Director at NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board, said: “The NHS app is such a brilliant resource, that allows us to take more control of our healthcare. Whether you already use it every month to request your repeat prescription, or you just downloaded it to confirm your vaccination status during the pandemic, it’s worth logging in again to have a look at what else it can do now.

“And to get the best out of it, I’d definitely recommend people switch on notifications – that way the app will remind you of upcoming appointments or when new results are through. It’s a huge time saver!

“While patient needs and NHS staff and services will always remain at the heart of our national health service, making use of the available technology is a great way to support the NHS and I hope more people will explore the NHS app and discover the many advantages it offers.”
