NHS colleagues are now continuing to vaccinate the remainder of those eligible from today, 17th April 2023. The spring campaign started with care home residents and now those who are aged 75 and over and those who are at risk, can now be vaccinated.
Those eligible for the spring COVID-19 vaccination programme are:
- adults aged 75 years and over
- residents in a care home for older adults
- individuals aged 5 years and over who are immunosuppressed
Like previous campaigns, the vaccination will be available through your local GP Practice, Pharmacies, some Hospital Hubs, at our Wellness Hubs and on the WoW bus.
Andrew Lamb, Senior Programme Lead Manager – Vaccination Services, NHS Norfolk and Waveney said:
“We are pleased to continue to deliver the vaccination programme across Norfolk and Waveney. We have many sites available including GPs as well as our Wellness Hub at Castle Quarter and our Wellness on Wheels (WOW) bus along with Community Pharmacies and other sites.
“If you are eligible, we urge you to come forward and get protected. This spring vaccination will ensure you continue to stay protected against the virus.”
NHS COVID vaccines have saved countless lives, kept tens of thousands of people out of hospital, and helped us to live with the virus without fear or restrictions.
The virus is still with us and making thousands of people ill every week[i], and protection against COVID (either from catching the virus or from a previous vaccination) fades over time.
So, this spring, the NHS is offering a further vaccination to those at highest risk of severe illness from COVID.
The last date people will be able to book a spring booster will be 29 June, with the last spring vaccinations on offer the following day, 30 June.
The NHS will write to people to remind those eligible that they can get the vaccine, but bookings can be made at any time.
To book, use the NHS App or visit nhs.uk/CovidVaccination. If you are unable to book online, you can call 119 for free.
First and second doses
COVID-19 is still around us and making some people very ill. If you have only had one COVID-19 vaccination or you have not had any at all, you are able to still get vaccinated up to 30th June 2023. To get a full course of 2 doses you must book your 1st vaccination in by the 5th May 2023 with your 2nd vaccination being on the 30th June (8 weeks later).
Everyone who was aged 5 on or before 31 August 2022 will be eligible until the 30th June 2023. After this date the offer will be targeted at those who are at increased risk from the virus.
To book for yourself or a family member please visit the NHS App, the NHS website www.nhs.uk/CovidVaccination or call 119 for free.
Make sure you and your loved ones get any extra protection needed this Spring.
