Health professionals working across Primary Care support our health in so many ways.

NHS Norfolk and Waveney is launching a campaign to help raise the profile of Primary Care services and support patients to understand how they can get the best from these services.

Like other areas across the country, many people in Norfolk and Waveney may find themselves turning to the emergency department unnecessarily because they don’t always know where to go for help. Some of these reasons include lack of awareness of what services exist and what services can help them with their needs. This campaign aims to help change this.

The aims of the Support Primary Care campaign

The Support Primary Care campaign aims to raise awareness about the different primary care services that are available and information about the wide range of healthcare professionals in GP surgeries across Norfolk and Waveney who are working to provide care. The campaign also provides advice on Self Care and ways to access NHS resources.

The NHS is adapting to meet the needs of its patients, and the way that patients can access primary care services has also been evolving. A campaign portal has been developed at improvinglivesnw.org.uk/support-primary-care/ with information to make it quicker and easier for patients to understand what services are available and how they can be accessed based on their needs.

The campaign recognises the hard work and commitment of staff working in primary care, and also encourages patience and respect between staff and patients when visiting primary care facilities.

What information can patients learn about Primary Care?

The Support Primary Care campaign will provide patients and the public with information about: 

• Choosing the right service – highlighting a range of healthcare services available in Norfolk and Waveney
• Highlighting the vast range of health and care professionals that work in general practice and the wider Primary Care family.
• Focussing on the importance of self-care
• Improving access to general practice and use of digital tools in primary care – helping to increase the use of Apps and online tools to contact local practices and find out where local health and care services are
• Working together so that both patients and staff can have positive experiences in general practice and reduce abuse which is currently experienced by staff in general practice and across the wider NHS.
