The climate crisis is a health emergency.
The NHS was the world’s first health system to commit to reaching Net Zero: 2040 for the emissions it controls, and 2045 for the emissions it influences. Every NHS trust in the country has developed its own roadmap to tackle climate change and meet the NHS’s Net Zero commitments.
In Norfolk and Waveney, we are committed to playing our part in meeting this critically important commitment. The organisations responsible for your health and care have made significant steps towards more sustainable ways of operating over recent years.
As an Integrated Care System, our dedicated Green Plan sets out how system partners will work together towards this goal – sharing best practices, collaborating, and holding each other to account.
Taking decisive action to reduce our contribution to global climate change will save lives and benefit the health services of tomorrow.
The NHS has been working towards cutting carbon emissions and building capacity and resilience into the way that healthcare is provided for the last ten years. Read what the NHS has been doing to support a more sustainable future for healthcare at Greener NHS » System progress (england.nhs.uk)
If you’d like to get involved locally, have ideas to share, or examples of how healthcare and community organisations are working together to reduce carbon emissions and live more sustainably, please get in touch. We’d love to share your Green Stories!
