Over 97% adult care home visited

26th May 2023

NHS colleagues across Norfolk and Waveney have been working around the clock to support the spring rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Care homes across Norfolk and Waveney have been included in the programme and over 77% residents have been vaccinated.

Kate Keeling, Associate Director of Immunisation & Health Inclusion, NHS Norfolk and Waveney said:

“We want to thank all of our health and care colleagues who have working tirelessly to ensure those who are vulnerable are protected against the virus.

“Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 and the spring booster programme provides an opportunity for those who are at highest risk of severe illness to keep their immunity topped up.

“It is really important that those who are eligible, to come forward as soon as the next phase of the programme begins and get vaccinated.”

Those who are eligible for the spring vaccinations include:

  • adults aged 75 years and over
  • residents in a care home for older adults
  • individuals aged 5 years and over who have a weakened immune system.

Like previous campaigns, the vaccination is available through your local GP Practice, Pharmacies, some Hospital Hubs, at the Wellness Hubs and on the WoW bus (Wellness on wheels)

Spring vaccinations

Spring vaccinations will be on offer up to 30 June, and the last bookings can be made on the 29th June.

If you haven’t had your 1st or 2nd dose, the last date you will be able to get vaccinated is 30th June.

After this date, you will only be eligible for a 1st or 2nd dose if you are at increased risk from COVID-19 and in most cases, you will have to wait until the autumn to get these vaccinations. If you develop a new health condition or start treatment that severely weakens your immune system, an exception may be made if your clinician advises you to get vaccinated sooner.

If you are eligible, you can make a booking by using the NHS App or visiting nhs.uk/CovidVaccination. If you can’t get online, you can call 119 for free, although this offers only the same range of appointments as the NHS App and website.
